![]() ![]() In conclusion, I can honestly say that for creatives who still use paper, Soumkine’s Weekly Atlas is a functional, well-designed calendar, appointment, reminder, to-do, brief note-sketch that deserves your attention. ![]() Additionally, the marine graphic on the front cover is well-designed and not overdone. Not sure if this is intentional to make it less bulky or if was a test design before going to larger production, but, personally, I would rather have a year’s worth of material, even if it comes at the expense of being thicker. The only criticism I have is that the Atlas only had about 2-3 months worth of design. It gives it a small press, chapbook feel. Fourth, I absolutely loved the threaded pages (? Saddle-like stitch) between the pages. Although the other page has a large block of space where you can take notes, sketch, etc., isn’t as important to me-I would rather have lines to take notes, or the two pages could have been used to allow for a full 12-16 hour day with the time pre-printed-I can see the versatility for artists, designers, etc. Third, the larger A4-like size allows enough space to write more than one appointment for a particular day and the month is laid out on one page and is undated so you can use this for any particular month/year. There is absolutely no bleed through so that important dates, times, etc., aren’t obscured. Second, it works great for fountain pens. LAYS PERFECTLY FLAT AT 180 DEGREES: Our A5 X dotted notebook has been designed to stay completely flat on its own. First, the tactile feel of the paper is great, it is not cheap and flimsy, so that more pages can be accommodated in a smaller space. Soumkine’s “My Weekly Atlas, Marine” is a winner. It seems very similar to a Leuchtturm 1917 notebook, but is at a much cheaper price point. Overall, I prefer the Bullet Journal over the Dotted Hardcover just because the pages are a bit wider, has less show through, and page numbers (which I’m obsessed with). I was impressed with how well it handled everything else. The Duke Fude nib full of Burma Road did feather and bleed just a little bit, but let’s face it that nib is like writing with a paint brush. X-Feather took a solid 5 minutes to dry and like Apache Sunset, bled a bit onto the opposite page. However whenever I look for a diary or notepad it is very important to me. No one notebook is perfect for everyone, so we found 12 in different styles and sizesall better than what you could grab off the shelf at the pharmacy. Apache Sunset had dried completely but when I closed it it made an impression on the opposite page. This is my first bullet journal so I dont have much in terms of reference of quality. The paper handled everything perfectly until it came to the Noodler’s inks. I ended up taking the Bullet Journal to my local pen club last weekend, and tested a bunch of my friends’ pen and ink combinations on it. ![]()
